The govt. "sells" water @ 15 paise per litre to Water-Bottling companies. These companies sell a 25 litre water can in the market @ Rs 50. That is Rs 2 per litre. Which means these companies get Rs1.85 per litre in this whole cycle. Approximating all the operating costs to 85 paise per litre, the companies get a net profit of 1 rupee per litre. . . and remember to throw in the fact that we, the citizens have forgotten that access to safe drinking water is one of our basic rights garunteed by the constitution.
